Engaged!

I know I don't update this much, but for those of you who DO check it...

Kerri and I were engaged to be married this past Saturday (10/21/06). She was somewhat surprised, as you can see from the video (myspace.com/jimdamico).

Happy Trails!

It's Been A While...

Yea, I know...I'm a slacker. Things have been busy and a lot has been going on. So here's the update...

April turned out to be my biggest month of sales to date at Car-Tel/Cingular. Over $12,000 in sales! It was non-stop. May followed up nicely and June is turning out good too. All in all things at work are good...

The church is going to be hiring me on part-time soon, so I have some things to think about with that. I am also ready and excited to get back into school for youth min...

Two weeks ago Kerri and I took a trip down to the sunshine state for my brother Ben's graduation. It was an amazing trip. Here's a pic of Ben graduating...

I am so amazed a how quickly time goes by. It seems like just yesterday I was torturing him...I mean taking care of him... :)

After the graduation Kerri and I visited with some of my friends down there. Memorial Day a bunch of us took Jay's dad's boat out on the river and down to Sebastian Inlet. Here's a great pic of three best buds...

The next day Kerri and I went to that magical place...

M-I-C...see ya real soon!!!

Easter...sacrifice...

Well well...

It's been a while since I posted last. My excuse? Agenda. Too much on it, that is. This past weekend was a blur of drama, singing, spaghetti dinner and church. Ah, the good times. The spaghetti dinner was amazing. Our youth group rocks the hizzy. Seriously! The drama, well let's just say I got frustrated at some people at church. I started thinking, "I put all this time and sacrificedfor this?" Then God gave the smack down (He does that to me sometimes). I felt Him gently say, "Sacrifice is a great word on Easter..." Yea, I changed my attitude pretty darn quick. :)

So the weekends over. I skipped Elevate tonight to finish up some yard chores (the township does a major pickup tomorrow, gotta have all those branches, leaves and grass clippings out!). It feels nice to relax. This week should be tame, although I won't get to see Kerri much. :( That is until...

HER BIRTHDAY! Friday she turns 18...I mean 23. ;) Saturday we leave for the weekend to visit her old college (Messiah). Should be a great weekend! And our 6 month anniversary is Saturday. Why did I get the girlfriend with the diamond birthstone again? Thank you Lord...

Hasta. I'm off to shower and relax.... Ahhh...

Pandora

Someone showed my this really cool site where you can make your own streaming audio "radio stations." It keeps adapting as you tell it what you like. It plays a lot of indie and upcoming artists; as you rate them, it molds your station. You can create up to 100 stations! Pretty cool, huh? Check it out at http://pandora.com and join (it's free!). You can see my stations on the right side of this blog... :)

Just playing around with that today. Reading through some Psalms. I'm diggin' Psalm 121...

Hunger Banquet tomorrow - pray for that.
Spaghetti dinner coming up - pray for that.
Kyle McNamara doesn't like blogs (haha!) - pray for him... :)

Feel the burn!

Life can be hectic. It used to be that I would take each day as it came and not put any thought into the future. Those days are fading as I become more and more involved with ministry. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining OR saying that I am worrying about the future, just that I am learning the value in time management. I'm also learning (slowly, but surely) the importance of saying no. It seems like, as Christians, we want to do all we can and more to serve God. It's the more part that hurts us. How true that as we spread ourselves thinner we end up doing more things but doing them all with a subpar performance. I believe God wants us to focus our energy and talents on fewer things...but to do those things exceptionally well.

With that said, I need to focus my energies. I have many passions, but what can I cut out? I can't see myself NOT doing youth ministry. I want to have time for my family, my girlfriend, and myself. I need to be dilligent in my devotions. Small group is vital for my growth...so is Elevate. That leaves vocal ministry and missions. Of the two, I place missions higher. However, both are causing my plate to overflow. Now, I made a commitment to lead this team to Nicaragua, which I will do. After that I will keep missions work confined to the realm of the youth ministry....taking them on trips, etc. So the conclusion leaves me saying what I already knew: I will be leaving the vocal team at church. Funny to say that when just today they called me to do a solo next weekend. I agreed BUT I was already singing next weekend (my excuse...). After this vocal schedule, I'm stepping down for a season (or more!).

With the help of Kerri and her dad I have emailed the senior pastor at church regarding being hired as a part time youth leader. I have been so excited about this! It's testing my patience...in God's time. Ok, God, can I just pray that it is soon?!?! :)

Well, I'm off to email the masses. Youth updates, missions updates...ahhhh. I will say this - there was a time not too long ago when a Friday night meant going out and drinking myself cross-eyed only to sleep my Saturday away, waking up with a hangover. So in light of it all having to cut out ministries is a blessing in itself.

Cheers,
~jim
